The MARCH network addressed a number of educational challenges that are linked to students’ perceptions on science and existing science education pedagogies in schools. For each one of these challenges below, there are recommendations from the MARCH network, including from teachers and students, which can be found and downloaded here in more detail (pdf).

Three main challenges were observed:

(i) Lack of effective educational methods
(ii) A shortage of well-qualified science teachers capable of providing a positive experience may be influential in pupils’ attitudes towards school science
(iii) Need for linking science educational content to 'real' life
